Merry Christmas

xmas2008_smallWe would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  As 2008 nears its end, and we enter full swing into the holiday season, we send Season’s Greeting’s to all of our friends and family both near and far–you are always in our thoughts and prayers!

For those of you that know us, it was a busy year for us to say the very least!

If you have been following the progress of our year long house reconstruction project, we have accomplished quite a lot this year.  While I would like to say we are finished, I am however afraid to say that we are not quite there yet–but it does get much closer. We had hoped initially to be finished with the main parts of the project this year before the holidays.  In looking back at all of the work which was done, I think we can all say that would have been a bit ambitious.  Whenever we end up finishing the project, there will indeed be one hell of a party!  Hopefully the celebrating will happen long before another year comes and goes.

Sending our best wishes!

Are we done yet???

The other night, we watched a movie named “Are we done yet?” which is movie about a young couple with 2 kids who decide to trade in their small apartment in the city for a large Fixer Upper in the country.  The story details the never ending repairs which are required for their new house, and we could certainly relate to what they went through.  So the question is, are we done yet?  Well, just like in the movie, our repairs and updates seem to never end–so the short answer to the question is no.

We are however getting much closer to having a complete kitchen once again, and this is a wonderful thing!  After 8 or 9 months of having to use the small kitchen in the basement, it’s great to be almost done with our new kitchen on the main floor of the house.  We have just uploaded some current pictures to the Photo Album which include several pictures of the new kitchen.  The cabinets are all installed, as are the countertops and most of the appliances.  We ran out of materials for the Stainless Steel backsplash, which I need to order from Ikea, and we are minus a Microwave oven.  Who would have ever thought that finding a Microwave that fits into the cabinet would be so hard to find…  Well, we can find plenty of them selling for $500 – $1,000, but that is a bit much for something to boil water in!  We still need to install the in cabinet lighting, the under cabinet lighting, the two bar tops and all of the trimmings.  There are still lots of little details, but all of the big stuff is done and we think it is starting to look pretty awesome!
